Born in Sheffield, Ursula went to London to study at Goldsmiths College, London. Originally intending to study ceramics and fine arts (because, as her father pointed out, everybody needs pots), she finally graduated with a Degree in English and Drama.
Since then she has continued to study, gravitating towards Psychology, Counselling and Hypnosis. After a brief period with the Ministry of Defense she decided never to work for anyone again. Many years later she became Visiting Professor of Clinical Hypnosis at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, the only professor of clinical hypnosis in the UK. In 2005 she became a Visiting Teaching Fellow at Oxford University Medical School and an Honorary Lecturer at Barts and The London Medical School and her organisation, Thames Medical Lectures has since taught medical hypnosis at thirteen UK medical schools including Oxford and Cambridge.
Ursula is a Patron of Anxiety UK and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV). She regulary appeared on This Morning on TV and Woman’s Hour on Radio 4, as well as the Macaulay and Co on Radio Scotland. Her TV series, Sex, Lies and Hypnosis, was broadcast on Channel 5 in the summer of 2007.
She now shares her time between a boat in London and rural France.
