Born in Sheffield, Ursula went to London to study at Goldsmiths College, London. Originally intending to study ceramics and fine arts (because, as her father pointed out, everybody needs pots), she graduated with a Degree in English and Drama, before going on to study design.

Since that point she gravitated towards the study of the mind:  Psychology, Counselling and Hypnosis. After a brief period with the Ministry of Defense she decided never to work for anyone again. Fast forward many years she became Visiting Professor of Clinical Hypnosis at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, the only professor of clinical hypnosis in the UK. In 2005 she became a Visiting Teaching Fellow at Oxford University Medical School and an Honorary Lecturer at Barts and The London Medical School and her organisation, Thames Medical Lectures has since taught medical hypnosis at thirteen UK medical schools including Oxford and Cambridge.

Ursula is a Patron of Anxiety UK and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV). She regulary appeared on This Morning on TV and Woman’s Hour on Radio 4, as well as the Macaulay and Co on Radio Scotland. Her TV series, Sex, Lies and Hypnosis, was broadcast on Channel 5 in the summer of 2007.

Her passion for art has never waned and she continues to create, and to support art and artists with her Art Residencies in Fontaine-Daniel. She also makes videos and organises art events and workshops.

She has also written eight books (frequently using the freedom of pseudonyms), which have been published by Random House and Penguin books among others. Her book of magical realism, The Source, was translated into 12 languages.

Ursula shares her time between London and rural France, three chickens and a husband.
